Six months. Six letters. One Intarsia scarf.
Intarsia Snail Mail
Join me on this slow and colourful creative journey!
Six months. Six letters. One intarsia scarf.
The Intarsia Snail Mail is a six-month creative knitting journey exploring intarsia and colour: It's all about slow progress, taking the time to experiment, making the most of your stash and small leftovers, creating unexpected colour palettes, and, of course, intarsia!
The scarf is divided into six parts, each inspired by a different painting and with its own colour palette and focus. Each part will be developed and knitted slowly, one step at a time, before eventually coming together as one larger project.
Each month, a letter arrives in your mailbox with the next chapter of the scarf – along with something new to discover, explore and experiment with.
The finished project is a colourful, graphic intarsia scarf made up of six sections. Each section has its own visual character, while together they create a playful composition of contrasting colours, patterns and textures.

Each monthly Snail Mail includes:
- An abstract art postcard featuring an abstract interpretation of the painting that inspired that month’s motif.
- A technique chapter or tips to help you improve your intarsia, from yarn management to creating a neat wrong side.
- A colour palette guide with ideas to help you develop your own colour palette each month.
- A colour chart for the next section of your scarf
- A little story about the inspiration behind that month’s motif
Together, these elements are designed to make each letter more than just the next part of a knitting pattern – it’s a moment of inspiration, learning and creative exploration arriving in your mailbox.
It's all about intarsia!
Throughout the six months, we will explore intarsia from the basics to more complex motifs and techniques as well as the intarsia variation marled intarsia.
If you have already taken one of my intarsia workshops, this is a lovely opportunity to revisit, practise and deepen the techniques you have learned with a larger project that gradually grows over six months.
And if you are new to intarsia, the project gives you the opportunity to learn step by step and build confidence as you go.
